What is an Infrared Sauna?

The Science

 

Visible light and infrared are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, a continuum of light waves organized by how they interact with matter.  Scientists explain infrared as a safe and gentle form that brings many good, healthy things to earth and human beings.

Red light is visible and has a different wavelength of 620-750nm and penetrates slightly less deep than near Infrared.  Near infrared wavelengths 720-900nm is not visible and penetrates the body most deeply

Infrared Sauna FAQs

What Do I Wear?

To enable infrared to penetrate tissues as deep as possible, we recommend wearing as little as possible.

A cotton towel, gym shorts or swimwear is perfect.

When Will I Start To Sweat?

Sweat levels are different for everyone, sweating will increase with regular use.

Before Your Session

ALWAYS BE SURE TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER BEFORE YOUR SESSION

CHECK THE CONTRAINDICATION LIST AT YOUR CONSULTATION STAGE (link to contraindications here)

During Your Session

We do not recommend taking your phone, Smartwatches or other electronics into sauna.

Red Light/near Infrared loses effectiveness the further away you sit, to get the full effect sit as close to the LED panel as possible.

After Your Session

Drink at least 0.7 litres of water or electrolyte to rehydrate (this will be provided).

Dry off with a towel and allow the body to cool down naturally.

How Often Should I Use The Sauna?

One session will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, similar to exercise.
